During a 40-year search for a rare plant with extraordinary healing powers hidden deep in the Amazon jungle, two scientists discover spiritual awareness with the guidance of an Amazonian Shaman named Karamakate, who is the last surviving member of his tribe.

While the story is a simple one, it is based on real events and more importantly, looks deeply into the effects of colonialism on an indigenous population through artful black and white cinematography.

Directed by Ciro Guerra, this adventure drama has won many awards, including the ‘Director’s Fortnight Award’ at Cannes. Please note that this film is subtitled, runs for 122 minutes and is rated NC-17 (not suitable for children younger than 17 years of age).
